Dr. David Brown is a founding partner of Kansas City Psychiatric Group and one of Kansas City’s most experienced psychiatrists. For more than 35 years, he has provided thoughtful psychiatric care to individuals and families throughout the community. His decades of clinical experience have shaped a practical, knowledgeable approach to the evaluation and treatment of a wide range of psychiatric conditions.
He is board-certified in both Adult Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and treats patients ages 12 and older across a broad range of conditions, including depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, ADHD, OCD, schizophrenia, spectrum disorders and substance use disorders. Over the course of his career, he has cared for patients with both common and complex psychiatric presentations, and he brings that depth of experience to every evaluation.
ADHD is a particular area of clinical interest for Dr. Brown. He has extensive experience evaluating and treating ADHD and helping patients understand how symptoms may affect attention, organization, time management, productivity, relationships and everyday functioning. Dr. Brown works closely with patients to identify effective strategies and treatment options that support improved focus and functioning.
Dr. Brown attended the University of Oklahoma for both his undergraduate and medical degree. He obtained his psychiatry training at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. After relocating to Kansas City, he co-founded Kansas City Psychiatric Group in 1992 and served as Medical Director at three area hospitals, including Research Psychiatric Center from 1996 to 2009, before he transitioned to full-time outpatient practice in the summer of 2013.
